A Tribute to Smt. Sundari

Sundari Periamma was not just a matriarch — she was a force of grace, wisdom, and infinite warmth. Her presence held families together like thread through silk, weaving generations with empathy, love, and compassion. Her name wasn’t just Sundari; she was the very definition of it — beauty in deed, heart, and spirit.

She nurtured everyone around her, creating homes filled with art, prayer, music, and meaning. A mentor to young minds, a shoulder for the weary, and a silent storm of strength — she lived a life not just for herself but for all who had the fortune of knowing her. Her legacy? A life of selflessness and love, a map for all of us to follow.

Periamma was kindhearted, sympathetic, and deeply empathetic — always ready to share in your joys and sorrows, never turning away from those in need.

— Raghavan Raman

Her passion was practical, her mind pragmatic. She loved people unconditionally and accepted them exactly as they were, with no judgment — just grace.

— On behalf of Dr. K. S. Raman & Mrs. Sudha Raman

A magician of handicrafts, she never let waste go to waste. Her hands created beauty. Her mind stayed curious, learning new art, cuisines, and cultures — even in her later years. She was the heartbeat of our home.

— With love, from the entire Raman Family

Some tributes received from her dearest Family and Friends

A Heartfelt Tribute to Our Beloved Akka

It is with profound sadness and shock that we received the news of the sudden passing of our dearest sister, Sundari Kalyanraman, affectionately known as Akka.

Beyond our mother, Akka was the unifying force who kept our siblings connected, always reaching out and staying in touch with each of us. Much like our parents, she thrived on having loved ones around her. Her children often remarked on her infectious enthusiasm and pleasantness whenever we visited, as we reminisced about our cherished memories. The depth of these bonds brought her immense comfort, often providing solace during her ailments.

As the eldest child, Akka, alongside VSK Athimber, played an instrumental role in the growth and progress of each one of us. They were our steadfast pillars of support during difficult times, always there for us to lean on. She never missed any of the functions or activities within the KSS family, a testament to her unwavering dedication.

Within the Garden Villa colony, Akka fostered a beautiful spiritual atmosphere, freely teaching residents various slokas, Bhagavatham, and Narayaneeyam from her home. Her commitment and involvement in this endeavor were truly immeasurable. Our trip to Guruvayur, reciting Narayaneeyam at Chembai Hall and visiting the temples in nearby districts a few years ago, with Akka leading a large group of ladies from the colony, was a divine experience for everyone, and they have constantly expressed their profound gratitude and thanks to her.

In contrast to today's prevalent nuclear family culture, Akka masterfully held all her children together, managing a joint family with remarkable diplomacy and grace.

Her passing is an immense loss to every member of both the KSS and VSK families. Only time will help us navigate through this period of bereavement.

We pray that God grants strength to all family members to bear this profound loss. May her atma attain eternal peace and find its way to the abode of Lord Guruvayoorappan.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Mohan and Shantha

A Tribute to Sundari Thathi

For our beloved songwriter, I write a song,
For I strive to hold on to all that is gone,
As futile as it seems, I pray my words gleam,
Shining over our lives and our silent screams.

Ever so adept, the arts were at her fingertips,
They itched until she bequeathed it to whom she saw fit.
It seemed that the goddess quite liked to reside
In her mouth, arms, and soul, wishing to be her guide.

She intricately wove a thread of a special kind
With kindred spirits, with love you couldn't just find,
With love that had been forged in the hearths of souls
With love everlasting and caring, sparkling and bold.

I thank our matriarch for bringing us light,
For the beacon you’ve been, for all your might,
Your presence so serene, and yet, so energetic
I hope you fly high, our muse, so electric.

– Maitri
